September’s Hawk Talk
Hawk Talk!
Your once-a-month summary of updates, reminders, events, and more.
Welcome back, Hawks!
We hope you had a great summer and have settled into the swing of the school routine.
We’ve had a great start to the year!
Thank you so much to everyone who came out and decorated the sidewalks with chalk messages and art before the first day of school. The kiddos and staff love seeing it on their first day back.
Our Book Fair schedule had to shift this year since the District changed the calendar. We are so appreciative of all the volunteers who made our Book Fair possible. Thank you to the families who stopped by to support our fair and library program.
Please complete your application for Free and Reduced meals. This TRULY helps paint an accurate picture of the financial need at Tumwater Hill. Completing this, even if your student(s) do not eat school lunch or do not need reduced pricing, can help our school receive the funding for staff and other programs that benefit ALL students. Completing this form is simple and easy through QMLATIV!
Take a look at what’s coming up this fall!
Our first PTA meeting of the year is this Wednesday on 9/24. Please join us from 6-7:30 in the Flex Room.
Childcare is available in the library for potty trained kiddos. You do not have to be a member or volunteer to attend.
We will be hearing from the superintendent, the principal, and voting on the budget.
Our first Hawks Night Out is coming up!
Let’s hang out! Bring your friends, meet some new ones, consume deep fried cheese* (*tummy approval dependent).
As a bonus, our school will receive 15% of orders, including to go orders.
Trunk or Treat! Helpers needed!
You’re invited, please save the date!
Interested in helping? Here’s how you can!
send the PTA money and we will buy candy
send candy to school with your student and let them feed the candy monster
host a trunk! Decorate your trunk and pass out candy. Plan to stay the full 2 hours of the event.
The Tumwater Youth Program is sponsored by the city of Tumwater. We like to help spread the word in case this is an option your family is interested in. Check them out!
Please note this is not a THE PTA event.
All the info you need to know is right here. Still got questions? We’re an email away!
Preorder your 2025-2026 Yearbook!
A new idea for the 2025-2026 school year — we are offering the option to prepurchase your yearbook. Families who prepurchase will receive an email later in the spring reminding them that they already purchased a yearbook.
Students will receive their yearbook in early June, just like in years past.
Spirit Wear is on Sale now through 9/25!
We have 2 different designs this year.
Sizing available in adult and youth.

Volunteers Needed
Whether you have 15 minutes per week or the passion to head a committee or event, there’s a place for you. Upcoming volunteer opportunities include:
Ongoing
putting flyers into teacher mail boxes (approx. 10 min)
putting the sandwich board out near the dropoff line in the morning and/or putting it back in the lobby after school pickup (approx. 5 min)
make a bulletin board look cute (time varies: 30min - 90min depending on your design)
Event Related
help with hearing screenings - TBD but probably early November
If you read all the way to the bottom - thank you so much! We know it is a lot of information to take in but we also want to be communicative and transparent with how we are serving our students, school, and community.
As always, we are an email away if you have questions, comments, concerns, or compliments.
Love,
The THE PTA Board
